Taylor Polites is a writer and historian living and working in Rhode Island. Polites is known for his novel The Rebel Wife.

Polites received his masters in art and his masters in fine arts from Wilkes University. He attended, and now teaches at, the Mailer Writers Colony.

The Rebel Wife, Polites' first novel, was featured on Oprah's Book List. The novel chronicles the story of an Alabama woman after the Civil War.
