Virginia Lynch was a curator and proprietor of the Virginia Lynch Gallery in Tiverton, Rhode Island. Her gallery was described as "one of the most respected and influential galleries in New England" by the Providence Journal. <ref name=":0">SICLEN, BILL VAN. Lynch was born in 1915. She grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and was the dean of Women at Brandeis University in the 1960s. She joined the board of the Rhode Island School of Design in 1977.<ref name=":0" />

Lynch founded the Virginia Lynch Gallery at the age of 68 in 1983. Artists the gallery displayed included Gretchen Dow Simpson, Dale Chihuly, Chuck Close, and Jules Olitski.<ref>GRAY, CHANNING. Lynch received an honorary degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1997. She was awarded the Pell Award/Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in/to the Arts in 2005.
